100th day activity freebie

So, yesterday was the one hundredth day in our building.  I looked around for ideas and found one that was quite popular:  When I am  100 years old, I will look like this: and the kids had to draw their own pictures.  What fun it was to see their drawings and the things they wrote!  Here are some of my favorites:
When I am 100 years old, I will look like this and I will be:
"an old doctor"
"a retired cop"
"pro skater and a construction worker" (I would like to see that!)
"zookeyper" (love the spelling)
"old, old, lady"
"verry, verry, verry, verry old person (another great speller)
"well, I probably won't be anything because I will be dead"  (now this one is the only bright one in the class)

Wish I could share their drawings but that might have to be a later post, if ever.  Anyway, I have a word doc file for anyone to use if they would like to do this activity with their students.  I think my class really enjoyed doing their illustrations.

Underwater Garden video - amazing

This video was sent to me by one of my uncles because he liked it so much.  Me, however, being the teacher, not only appreciated the beauty of the video but was also instantly thinking of how it could fit into my curriculum.  Instantly, animal adaptations, expecially camouflage, came to mind.  So, I am  sharing this beautiful, amazing video, so you too, can be inspired to find ways to fit it into your own curriculum .  I so hope that you will watch it as it is completely worth watching.  Happy viewing!

bathroom tales

I was checking out a couple other blog sites, like I have nothing  better to do, and happened to read a great post on "Heather's Heart"  sharing her "potty patrol" stories, which are just too darn funny.  So, I added my latest and greatest and decided that would be fun to do on here just on the off chance that someone else might actually read it.  here was my comment:

Heather's Heart

here is my last known potty story - only it happens from the classroom doorway but it is still a potty story.  one of my boys asked if he could go use the bathroom,  the next thing i know he is standing in the doorway ready to make the big announcement.  "I just thought you should know there is something all over in the bathroom.  I'm not saying what it is.  But it is smeared all over and it's NOT pee.  and it's brown"  Thanks for sharing.  kind of reminded me of the original Parent Trap movie where the housekeeper says "and that's why I'm not saying a word"  Does anyone else remember that part or does that just make me too darn old?????

Ok, so I think I have finally got this embedding thing figured out, thanks to Kristin, at A Teeny Tiny Teacher,  who was kind enough to help me figure out it.  So I will owe her one eternally.  For now, I will start by putting her blogsite on here for others to enjoy, if they happen to venture upon my blog.  Which I hope they do!

A Teeny Tiny Teacher
Well, it was our first day of Christmas break and I got to sleep in until 9:15!  Wonderful.  Woke up to a light sprinkling of snow which was far better than the foot we had last time. (of course that one was on a Saturday so no snow day, much to all the kids' disappointment.)
So here is a funny one - we were studying the 5's times tables, and on of my kids realized that he already knew them all, much to his surprise.  He figured out that since he knew how to count by 5's that he already knew all the fives facts.  He told me "this is gonna be a pizza cake".  haha.  And he was totally serious.

So for a little Christmas freebie, here is an updated version of the classroom clip chart hall of fame award, because my 17 year year old, very honest to the point of painful, daughter, told me that my first one looked really tacky.  her words, not mine.  So enjoy her less tacky version.  Admittedly, it is rather nice. Take 2 Clip Chart Award And here is the address to follow Kristin's blog - she is great and soooo funny! Thanks again for the help, Kristin!!!

clip chart hall of fame award

ok, for all of you who have discovered the new "clip chart" system  for use in your classroom, here is an award you can use for those who make it to the "Clip Chart Hall of Fame"!  I thought they needed something special to celebrate their achievement so here it is - hope you find it useful.  I may come up with a more colorful version as well.
